Just wondering if you hepapn to have any other pics from your visit to the Java Connection. It recently closed and the space is now available for rent. I want to take a peek this week if I can to see about renting it, but until then my little heart is bursting with grins and possibilities over this place and a few pictures to help me recall the layout better would be a great help, if that's at all possible. Thanks! by Cindicita posted on Friday, February 28, 2014

No offense to you at
No offense to you at all but sodnus like some pretty lazy, ignorant, former residents. I want to assume since you allude to the fact that you did get the tar paper up, there is still residue. No offense to answer 1, but I can't imagine hot, soapy water having much effect. I guess a question would be, is it the tar like substances from the paper, that have gummed up on the floor? Does the floor seem to have a finish coat on it? Are you certain it's hardwood, or laminate? I think you have some re-finish work ahead of you in any case. On small spots I'd try mineral spirits, IF the wood has any clear coat substance on it. If it doesn't, any solvent you use will cause some of the residue to leach into the flooring. In a more general sense I'd try goo-gone on spots, or Murhpys Oil Soap mixed, to clean the wood. At some point you may still have to sand and re-finish. The fact that you've removed all the trash flooring is to your credit. Restoration will be more the challenge.Just my two sense by Dennis posted on Monday, December 22, 2014

hey joe, thanks 4 wanichtg! The carpet was 20 + years old moldy and damp. The document was also under unhealthy. We recommend the removal of carpets in this state. We choose bamboo over exotic and hard woods. The trees can be & 20-100 + years grow bamboo grows fast like a weed-sustainable and eliminates the need to reduce endangered forests. The trees can not sustain consumer demand, such as bamboo and hemp. keep ours very well and need no wax or coating, so that no VOC)VA:F [1.9.22_1171]please wait...VA:F [1.9.22_1171](from 0 votes) by Jeanine posted on Thursday, October 01, 2015

Try washing in with very hot soapy water just a test spot. It seems to me once a long time ago I puleld up some old flooring, found tar paper and it actually loosened up considerably just by washing the floor with hot soapy water. Get a plastic scraper to scoop up the gunk. by Julian posted on Thursday, October 01, 2015
It's not a matetr of
It's not a matetr of what I think is best. It's a matetr of what you and your husband feel most confident doing. The tiler will charge more then the painter. Both jobs are time consuming. Far more expertise is required to lay the floors (not saying that professional painters aren't professional) But from a dyi homeowner perspective the proper underlayment, prep, set up, spacing, grouting and sealing for a tile floor is more daunting. Laminate will require precise cuts and corner notching. In the end where are YOUR services to help better off. You have to consider your time and input on both parts.Personally I would have the floors done. If you miss the time window on the painting all is not lost its a one 1/2 day upheaval per furnished room with both of you busy working. Getting the floors in properly and set before you move in is a bigger deal. by Gaviota posted on Friday, October 02, 2015

well I'd say you were right on the money! I love all your colors. Where did you get the tile for the bslsapcakh? It looks like a watery beach glass greenyblue color on my monitor. Is it? I love how the kitchen table and chairs look too. The floor will be amazing. by Amoo posted on Friday, October 02, 2015

I would go with the laminate floor. Painting is easy enoguh, just labor intensive if you do not have professional tools. I wouldn't want to take my chances on flooring though. I would leave that to the professionals. If you are a little apprehensive on doing the painting, you can go to a home improvement store and they can walk you through it and get you the stuff you need. Make sure you get some tape, plastic sheeting, rollers, a screen to squeeze the excess paint of the roller and a small detail brush. If they try to sell you anything else, it is probably best to say no. They'll even help you with the paint selection. by Fabio posted on Friday, October 02, 2015
Do the laminate and
Do the laminate and tilnig yourselves. Laminate you can stop and start at your own pace w/o worry of a big clean up and it won t matter where you leave off. Tile projects on average can be done in a weekend with proper planning or even a weekend and grout at nite or the next weekend. Painting a 2 story is slow and can be dangerous. Its hard on the legs being on a ladder and you just shouldn t stop any place. And the clean up to maintain brushes and stuff. Any questions you can e mail me through my avatar.
